We took a small squad to compete at this years kata competition. Everyone performed brilliantly and gained valuable experience . A special mention must go to our little warriors Ryan and Olivia as this was their first competition and nothing fazed them they just got up on the mat and performed. In-House Competition - 8th December
Our second in-house competition for our Chisana Students and what a fantastic turn out it was. These competitions are aimed at building confidence and to gain an understanding in how competitions work. It's an amazing opportunity for our new and younger students and for parents to get involved too.

We pride ourselves on commiting our time and knowledge to running a friendly, ambitious, family like club whilst maintaining respect and discipline.

Dokan Northern League in South Shields - 27th October 2024 - Layla Dickinson
A huge shoutout to one of the Chisana Senshi kids who has faced many struggles and battles with her anxiety, especially around competing in Kumite. Today she took the mats for both Kata and Kumite and managed to secure herself a bronze in Kata and an outstanding GOLD in Kumite. Her determination, ambition and perseverance definitely paid off. A very well deserved Gold medal!
Dokan Northern League in South Shields - 27th October 2024
The Chisana kids competed in the final round of the Dokan League 2024 in South Shields. They all took to the mats with great determination. Their ambition is inspiring to all. It wasn't their day for medalling but they all showed great effort and enthusiasm.
KKO Squad Training and Selections - 26th October 2024
Today a small squad of 4 attended the KKO Squad Training and Selections in South Shields ahead of the final leg of the Dokan League. All four were selected for the KKO B Squad and will be eligible to compete internationally representing KKO. A huge congratulations Layla, Abel, Logan and Thomas!
WUKF Europeans Championships 2024 in Poland
Chief Instructor Shelly Collinson competed in the WUKF Europeans Championships in Poland representing KKO this week and secured a GOLD medal in Vets 51-60 years - 60kg!!! Leading from the front and showing our students how training pays off!

WKC World Championships 2024 in Sheffield - 6th-8th September
The Chisana kids were certainly on fire over the weekend. From such a small and young club they fought their little hearts out. 15th WKC World Championship representing EKA England. And what a result we came home with. Huge congratulations to Nichola who is Chisana's first WKC double World Champion aged 9, followed by Logan who is WKC World Champion in boys 6-7 kumite aged 7 and leading from the front our very own chief instructor Shelly Collinson who has walked away with 2 World Champion titles.

Goodbye Lulian
Lulian enjoyed his last training session with us today before returning home to Romania. He has been a pleasure to teach! We will all miss you and i'm sure many members will keep in touch.
Yorkshire U16 Championships in Barnsley - 7th July
Amazing day at the Yorkshire u16 Championships in Barnsley. Very proud of every single one who competed, for some this was their first ever competition. Took a squad of 10 over and came back with a fantastic medal tally.

EKA Selection
Congratulations to 7 students who have been selected to represent England under the EKA at the WKC World Championships 2024 in Sheffield! Huge shoutout to Shelly, Richard, Layla, Abel, Nicholas, Alfie, Tilly, Logan and Thomas!!
EKA Squad Training - 23rd June
A huge well done to all Chisana members who attended the EKA squad today in Barnsley. Their performance, attitude and representation of the club was outstanding. Moving forward, you have the opportunity to represent England at the WKC World Championships in Sheffield.
Leeds Junior Open - 19th May
Today we attended the Leeds Junior Open, it didn't go as hoped but they all did amazing! Taking to them mats takes a lot of courage and they all showed the immense amount of courage they posses. A special mention to Layla and Abel, both have struggles with anxiety, especially when competing but the improvement they have made by conquering their fear is outstanding. A huge well done to both Darcie and Emilia competing in their first big competition. Well done to our two medallists Jacob (4-5 years kumite) and Thomas (7 years and under Juruken)
EKA National Championships Barnsley - 5th May
Amazing day the Chisana squad had at EKA National Championships in Barnsley. Each and everyone of them did us proud. they always support and encourage each other, medal or not the bonds you all have is something to be proud of. A fantastic result:

what can I say our first home grown blackbelt
from what a roller coaster of emotions this weekend has been WOW! For those of you that know Layla well, know that she hates being centre of attention, she can lack in confidence and does not at all believe in herself and her abilities, well this weekend she has yet again shone like the brightest of star's that she is and only gone and got her 1st Dan black belt in karate!! The lead up to this has sent her emotions all over the place the thought of it being her on her own with an outside examiner she's never met sent her anxiety into overload however as per, she pulled up her big girl pants and with allot of grit and determination She bloody smashed it Out the park We are so so immensely proud of her what an achievement.....hard work, commitment, sweat and allot of tears but my girl you smashed it 20/04/2024then straight into a competition on the Sunday to do kata and kumite is another HUGE achievement, black belt and medals all on 1 weekend kid believe in yourself you've got this shizzle girl.

Wow! What a fantastic day at the ichiban Inter- Club Competition
A massive well done to everyone who got up onto the mats and competed today. Many of these were our 5 and 7 year old members, who were competing for the very first time.
As usual, I was blown away with everyone's attitude, sportsmanship and performances. We cannot say how proud we to have everyone apart of our CSKC! Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to come down and support the team

Congratulations to Logan and Alfie , student of the month.
Logan has shown an incredible transformation over the last few weeks a massive increase in confidence and etiquette. The positive reinforcement charts are certainly working . ->
<- As for Alfie very high standard when training, always gives especially when demonstrating kata. He is always practicing at home and when he’s out and about .Well done to the both of you It’s nice to see the progress you’re both making.
Safeguarding 2024-2025
Chisana senshi karate club are very proud to announce that we have successfully attained the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts for the 3rd year running Achieving the Safeguarding Code, demonstrates our commitment to upholding our duty of care to the community and young people. We have been recognised as a martial arts provider that has reached and effectively maintained good safeguarding standards.
Liverpool Open Championships - Sunday 28th January 2024
A small squad of five competed at this event. Although some didn't medal we came away with 5 Bronze and a silver. Well done to our own Sensei Shelly, having bagged herself Gold in her category. Everyone did a great job and we are proud of them all.
North of England Kyu Grade Competition - Sunday 26th November
Last competition of 2023. Taking a small squad of 4, it wasn’t about medaling. It was about getting the experience against others the same grade and gaining the confidence to get on the tatami. Coming away with 2 Gold medals and 3 Bronze.
EKA National Championship - Sunday 12th November 2023
Brilliant results for our small squad today. Well done to Alfie, Logan and Nicholas for getting Silver in their first team event together.

Ichiban Interclub Competition - Sunday 15th October 2023
We took a small squad of 11 to compete. Big shout out to Tyler, he has only been with us for a few weeks yet still chose to compete. Although he didn't medal, he did very well against some experienced fighters. A massive congratulations to Darcie for taking Gold in her first competition. In the end we came out with 18 medals, 6 - Gold, 5 - Silver & 7 - Bronze. Amazing result for a young squad.
Yorkshire Open Competition - Sunday 24th September 2023
CSKC took a small squad to Barnsley. Amazing performance by all! All really pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and their confidence has shown throughout. Such an amazing learning experience for all, win or lose, there is always so many lessons to be learnt.

In-House Competition - Friday 1st September 2023
Great attendance and some very nice techniques and matches. Congratulations to all the participants and a special thanks to all parents that came to support and helped out. Our in house competition focused on giving students the opportunity to compete and test their skills. This experience is more about learning with winning and losing, dealing with nerves in competition and dealing with sportsmanship and doing their best. They are a host of emotions running through their minds and bodies and a few tears and meltdowns that can be challenging. Great work all round.

11th WUKF World Karate Championships - 13th-16th July 2023
Representing KKO GB, Sensei Shelly competed in Dundee and became WUKF World Bronze Medalist! Over 5000 athletes, coaches, officials and spectators from 62 federations across all five continents took part in four days of an exciting competition. KKO GB came 8th on the medal table. Well done to our own Sensei Shelly.
